  • When I am arrested, how long will it take for me to get booked, processed and ready for a bail agent to post my bond?

The length of time that is required for the booking process to be completed varies.  This length of time depends on how busy the respective jail is at the time the person is being booked.  Please be advised that #1st Coast Bail Bonds & Surety Agency does not and cannot control this holding period.  It's very important for the person being arrested to be extremely cooperative, polite and courteous during the booking process, 

  • What is the Purpose of a Bail Bond?


It’s an amount of money set by a judge to be paid by a defendant that allows a defendant to be temporarily released from custody so that they can prepare for their day in court. Bail is meant to be a type of insurance provided to the courts to insure that the defendant appears in court.

  Once the case has been disposed of or discharged by the court by either being found not guilty or having the charges dropped by the State of Florida or the defendant has been sentenced by the court, the bond becomes void or cancelled at that time.

  • What does it mean if a Defendant's bond is forfeited and what does this mean?

A judge can and should forfeit or estreat the bond when the Defendant fails to appear in court. It’s very important to note that strict timelines govern the length of time from the date the judge forfeited or estreated the bond until the day
#1st Coast Bail Bonds & Surety Agency must return the Defendant to custody or pay the forfeiture.

  •  What does it mean to collateralize a bond and what is collateral?

Collateral is money, property, etc. that you deposit with the #1st Coast Bail Bonds & Surety Agency to be held until the case is completed.

  2. Whether or not Defendant is local.​

  • What will be expected of a Defendant while they are on bond?
